Dr. Matthew Houlihan is a Board-Certified Urologist practicing in Lake, Kane, and McHenry Counties. His hospital affiliations include Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital and Advocate Sherman Hospital.
Dr. Houlihan sees male and female general urology patients and has a special area of practice focused on male reproductive medicine and surgery as well as men’s sexual health.
Prior to joining comprehensive urologic care, Dr. Houlihan completed his Andrology Fellowship at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Dr. Houlihan’s fellowship included specialized training in urologic problems unique to male health & wellness.
As a men’s health expert, Dr. Houlihan sees patients for erectile dysfunction, prosthetics/penile implants, vasectomy & vasectomy reversals, male infertility, testosterone therapy, and medical and surgical interventions for Peyronie’s disease. Additionally, Dr. Houlihan has advanced training for minimally invasive treatment modalities for BPH as well as endourologic treatment of stone disease.

His training includes an undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from Midwestern University – Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, and a Urology Residency with Cook County Health & Hospitals System. As mentioned, after successful completion of Urologic Surgery Residency, Dr. Houlihan completed an Andrology Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic – Rochester, MN.
When he’s not helping patients, you can find Dr. Houlihan spending time with his family, hiking, skiing, and traveling. Staying fit is important to Dr. Houlihan, who is always trying new things to improve his fitness so that he can lead by example for his patients.
