Over the past few months some of our area roadways have been very busy and
backlogged due to this year’s road construction season. Most of the larger
projects that are under construction around our district are state road improvements and not under the jurisdiction of Lake County. Even though I am not connected to these projects, I would like to keep you informed about the present and long term status of these improvements.

IL Route 176/Fairfield Road in Wauconda
This project is about 33% complete and work will continue into next year.
Weather permitting on Monday, October 7, 2013, paving of the new concrete lanes
on the North section of Fairfield will occur. The operations will be at IL 176
heading North on Fairfield and are expected to last from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
There should be VERY HEAVY DELAYS, so please allow enough time or use an
alternate route. For regular information and further updates please see<>.

Miller Road Improvement in North Barrington
Miller Road’s land bridge construction progresses. Due to rainy weather this season
and work to remove water in the construction area, there have been some delays.
The crews have been working Saturdays to catch up. Tentative projections are
that Miller Road will be open to through traffic at the end of the month and
the project will still be completed in December.

IL Route 22 Repaving in Lake Barrington
IL Route 22, 1,500 feet west of IL Route 59, to US Route 12, will be repaved
after Miller Road is open to traffic. As you may recall, IDOT and I worked out
a deal to postpone this work and prevent even longer commuter backups until
Miller Road was reopened to the public. Please be aware that IDOT will be along
IL Route 22 come November.

IL Route 176 in Island Lake to Darrell Road
This project is still active and IDOT continues doing lane closures and traffic
pattern switches sporadically. Soon they will open all lanes of traffic for the
winter. The road will remain open until spring when IDOT plans to resume their
work to completion.

US Route 12 in Wauconda & North Barrington
IDOT repaving work is now complete. Intersection improvements are being made at
Old McHenry Road and US Route 12 necessitating partial lane closures. The lane
closures in both directions should end around Thanksgiving, but the scope of
work will continue into next year.
